Galaxy A53 April 2024 security update makes its way to Europe

The April 2024 security update is going live for the Galaxy A53 in Europe this week, following a limited release in the US a few days back.

The two-year-old A series phone continues to receive regular updates to this day and got its last major OS update–Android 14 with One UI 6.0–in late 2023. Since then, Samsung has released a few security updates for the A53, with the latest one now available in some regions.

The April update comes with nothing of interest other than the latest security fixes. It can be identified by the build number A536BXXS9DXD1. Once the update is available in your country, you will be able to download it over the air from the phone's Settings » Software update menu.

Alternatively, you can download the latest firmware from our firmware library and use it to update your phone manually using a Windows PC.

For those wondering when the next big update will arrive on their Galaxy A53, Samsung is busy cooking One UI 6.1, which should come out sometime in May. But don't get too excited, as some of the best One UI 6.1 features–the ones powered by AI, that is–will not be coming to the Galaxy A53 or any other mid-range Galaxy smartphone.
